General Information

The New School is the place for you! Individual attention, small class sizes, a focus on the person instead of a number, a real dedication to education with a sense of humor, environmental awareness, all these and more can be found here. For information, contact Nancy at tnsk@adelphia.net.
The New School, located on Route 1 Kennebunk in Maine, is a community-based high school, offering a choice over traditional high schools. Most high schools deal with a large number of students and work well for many future scholars, athletes, actors, writers, scientists, etc. However, some students may fall through the cracks, whether because they find the classes unchallenging, the material uninteresting, or the sheer number of bodies daunting.
The New School, with a maximum school size as opposed to a traditional class size of students, creates a much closer bond between students and teachers, allowing the educators to focus on the interests of each student, rather than what they perceive to be the interests of the whole.
Classes at The New School (2002-2003) start at 9:00 AM and the "school day" ends at 3:15 PM. There are after school classes that are open to all students and the community that run, on some days, as late as 8:30 PM. Look at the Academics page to view the schedule for this term.
The New School has an open campus and the students are allowed to leave the campus during the time that they do not have a class, provided that they take responsibility for their own actions and be back in time for their next class. The reasoning behind this is as a community-based school, the community is our campus.
Unfortunately, our website right now is a tad on the undeveloped side, but we hope to have it up and running at nearly full information-imparting power as soon as possible. Let it be known that nothing at The New School is rushed and left at mediocre quality just to meet a deadline!
Once operational, the site will provide general information about the school and its history, the teachers, the students, the community that it serves, the admissions process, curriculum, a calendar of events, driving instructions, as well as many examples of the students' work as possible (in fact, this site is one!)
Right now, however, for any comments or information requests don't hesitate to contact the webmasters or give us a call at (207)-985-3745 and include your name, mailing address, telephone number, email, as well as any questions you may have, and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
